Blogging SEO Checklist
Photographers- blogging is one of the best ways to boost your search engine optimization and get your website seen by more of your ideal clients. Use the below blogging SEO checklist to make sure your post are optimized for SEO so that your results are shown higher in google than others!
Blogging SEO Checklist
There are three main things you need to pay attention to: your key phrase, links, and text length.
1. Key Phrase
Your key phrase are the keywords you want to rank for. An example of this could be “san Francisco wedding photographer” or “san Francisco family photographer.” Here’s what you need to do with the key phrase you are hoping to rank for:
- Have your key phrase in you blog post title
- Have your key phrase in the introduction paragraph
- Use your key phrase minimum of 3 times throughout your post
- Use your key phrase in a subheading (h2 or h3)
- Tag any images in your post (their alt text) with the key phrase
- Ideally use a key phrase you haven’t used before
2. Links
Another way to boost your post is for it to contain links. You’ll want:
- Outbound links (I usually tag my wedding vendors websites, or session location)
- Inbound links (you can link to another blog post or better yet- link to your contact form for those who want to book with you!)
3. Text Length
Lastly, google wants to see that your post is of substance, so ensure your entire post has over 300 words. You don’t have to go crazy here, but just make sure you are falling somewhere beyond 300.
Bonus- if you blog using WordPress, download the “Yoast SEO” plugin, and it will help guide you through all of this!
