5 Reasons You Should Have a First Look

Wedding Tips

The First Look is an amazing part of your wedding day! If you aren’t sure about this tradition, these tips will help explain why it would be a romantic addition to your wedding day that not only adds to the experience but also reduces stress. Here are some reasons most of my couples do this and love it!

1. More Portraits

Having a First Look allows for more time in the wedding day to take photos of you and your partner. Who doesn’t want more shots of them and their loved one on one of the most important days of their lives? A First Look allows you to get some shots in while you are both photo fresh and excited for the day to come! It’s also extra security that you got some amazing shots of you two, in case the timeline gets pushed back or the weather acts up.

2. Enjoy the Surprise Freely

It can be tough to soak in “the aisle” moment. All your friends and family have eyes on you two, you are trying to remember your vows, and there isn’t even a moment to sneak in a hug or kiss until half an hour AFTER you’ve seen each other and the ceremony is ending. There is a LOT going on. With a First Look, you have that dedicated time to really let your emotions flow and soak it all in together with all the hugs and kisses you want!

3. Extend Your Wedding Day

We typically think of weddings starting with the ceremony. However, with a First Look timeline, there is a whole party before the ceremony even begins! Instead of waiting anxiously for the ceremony to start, we will begin the day a few hours earlier with photos of you and your partner, and then move into the Bridal Party portraits so all of you and your friends can hang out together that morning too!

4. Your Only Alone Time

Once the ceremony begins, there is rarely a time during the rest of the wedding where you do not have a family member, friend, or planner by your side, moving you through the events of the day. Having that First Look lets you pause before the flurry of fun begins, and gives you two a private moment together. Not to mention, it puts you two in the perfect mood for some photos since you won’t have all the on-lookers who have yet to arrive!

5. Diminishes Nerves

There can be a lot of pressure and anxiety about the wedding day. Having a First Look and seeing the reassuring, loving smile in your partners face as they see you all dressed up on your big day can be the breath of fresh air you need! It’s a perfect way to get the jitters out and remember why you two are getting married in the first place.
