5 Stunning San Francisco Engagement Session Locations
We are so lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful locations here in the San Francisco Bay Area. The options of places to take your engagement photos is so limitless! I tell my couples that a good way to narrow down your locations is to:
A. Pick a location with meaning to you. This makes the session that much more special!
or
B. Pick a location that suits your hobbies. Are you a couple that spends a lot of time at the beach? Then let’s go coast side! Do you prefer drinks with friend downtown? They a spot with the city background might be more your style.
Here are some tried and true beautiful San Francisco engagement session locations that I personally adore.

1. Legion of Honor
My top favorite SF spot has to go to Legion of Honor. I am so in love with the beautiful, pristine white stone that the front entrance is made up of. It has such a luxurious Paris feel to it and makes any outfits pop in photos. You can’t go wrong with the classic look so easily achieved here. It’s the reason my husband Nick and I often take our own portraits here!

2. Lovers Lane
Lovers Lane transports you to a thick, mature forest that you wouldn’t believe was located inside a major bustling city! The technical name for this spot is Andy Goldsworthy’s Wood Line. It’s actually an art piece! For the best photos, be sure to visit during golden hour, when the warm setting sun streams into the eucalyptus trees for such a dreamy shot!

3. City Hall
Many wouldn’t think of a City Hall to be a particularly beautiful spot for engagement photos. But San Francisco has an absolutely stunning City Hall! This is my go-to spot for winter sessions when it’s too cold to be outside, or if the forecast calls for rain.

4. Marshall’s Beach
What would San Francisco be without its beautiful coast line and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge? For couple wanting that classic SF feel, Marshall’s Beach is my favorite! The beautiful, rocky beach offers some gorgeous over-water shots and of course, the Bridge in the background is such a nice touch!

5. Ina Coolbrith Park
Last but certainly not least is my little secret city spot- Ina Coolbrith Park. I love this location because it offers gorgeous view of the downtown area, without any of the crowds or parking headaches! This quite little park is so perfect for achieving that big city feel, without the stress that usually comes with adventuring into the downtown area.

There you have it! You can’t go wrong with any of these lovely San Francisco places to take your engagement photos! A key tip to remember though- since the city can mean lots of crowds and tourists in any of these spots, I always recommend photographing your session on a week day rather than a weekend.
